Love for one of the most wonderful spots on Earth, Maremma in Italy, and for the finest olive oil has united Désirée Ditterich and Louisa Hentschel for life.
Désirée Ditterich and Louisa Hentschel
Louisa, the midwife, and Désirée, the motivation trainer, aunt and niece, so close and similar to each other and yet so different. Twenty years ago, in the native region of Maremma, we bought a piece of land with olive trees and started to get expertise in producing a unique olive oil.
The love to this wonderful place on earth connects us.
Growing up on a farm, knowing very well how it is to work with your own hands, along nature, we rediscovered our roots in Italy. This country inspires us and continuously drives our passion for traditional craft.
The region of Maremma extends from southern Tuscany to northern Lazio. Our olives grow here near the coast, almost at the sea level, and due to this very special, coastal climate they develop an intense aroma.
We will never forget the first time when we harvested olives ourselves and once the harvest was over, we felt an overwhelming satisfaction. The pure, spicy taste of our olive oil: simply unforgettable. "Nothing has changed until today. Initially it was only supposed to be a hobby, but as time went by, our passion has become our common vocation”, reflect Désirée and Louisa.
We work closely together with the olive growers from the region and over the years, we have established with them strong friendships. Our neighbour is one of the co-founders of Slow Food. The devotion of the native inhabitants to their land and to the food coming purely out of nature inspires us continuously.
We spend several months a year in our house in Maremma, which we have transformed into an agritourism farm. The most important event of the year is always the olive harvest that begins from the end of September. We are honored and happy that we can share all of this with you.
